New Ways
This year FFCNC has taken a closer look at how our membership engages with the Friendship Force—and we are test driving some new ways to keep members actively involved. Check out the calendar page to keep abreast of the latest!
~ LEO (Let’s Eat Out) – a no-host meeting at an ethnic restaurant so we can keep up with FFCNC friends and introduce newcomers to the Friendship Force. While sharing cuisine from a different culture, members also share anecdotes from recent travel. LEOs are planned several times a year to span the Central NC area.
~ Day Trips – our first day trip (see photos) went to Smith Mountain Lake, the Booker T. Washington birthplace farm, and the national D-Day Memorial. More such trips are planned to offer discovery and camaraderie close to home.
~ Educational Membership Meetings – with a mixer first and dinner followed by a speaker, we hope to socialize and address current events relative to countries with which FFCNC plans an exchange. In September—prior to our Turkish inbound exchange—Dr. Jerry Pubantz will speak about Islam following a potluck dinner at Knollwood Baptist Church in Winston-Salem.
At home as well as abroad, it’s about FACES not PLACES…and within our community and membership, there are many ways to promote peace and understanding. We are just scratching the surface—and your ideas on the subject are welcome!!
A world of friends is a world at peace.
